YOUNG Gayle Monroe Young, New York City and Haverhill, New Hampshire, died Friday, January 8, 1999 of emphysema. Born November 7, 1935, son of the late George Edward Young and Stella Monroe Young, he was educated in the Fayette County Public Schools and graduated from Lafayette High in 1953. While in high school, he worked backstage at Lexington Children's Theatre, appeared in Studio Players' first production "The Play's the Thing" in January 1953, and in the Transylvania Arena Theatre production of "Laura" in June 1953.
Gayle then enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley and studied ballet, which led to a contract with a professional ballet company. Subsequently Gayle's talent and experience evolved into a two decade career with the American Ballet Theater (ABT), where he became principal dancer performing many lead roles. Upon his departure from ABT, he taught ballet at the Purchase Campus of the State University of New York, retiring on December 31, 1998. Gayle was a talented dancer, teacher, choreographer, and antique dealer. He is survived by his brother Eugene Young and family of New Jersey, and his companion and business partner of 38 years, Daryl T.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family suggests contributions be MILLER Lutie Miller, 93, of Berry, KY died Monday, Jan. 1999, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born December 15, 1905, in Harrison KY to the late William T. and Martha Garrison Miller, and was a member of the Wagoner's Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Carlos Miller and Lottie Miller. Survivors include two brothers, Johnson Miller and Berry William R. Miller, Paris; three sisters, Artie Hubbard, Cynthiana, Ethyl Lail, AL, and Madeline Botts, Versailles. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be conducted 2pm Wednesday at the Whaley McCarty Funeral Home by the Rev.
